Mixing materials is “newish” for me, and I find the process intriguing. Combining oil painted wood, painted and sanded plexi glass, rolled and etched metal plate and exposed hardware is a real stretch and pure joy. The works still have reference to nature, and the mechanical/botanical combination really comes together in a lively “pop” sort of way. These works are less predictable than my wood sculptures, and often have a looser, funky feeling. Combining materials leads to endless possibility.
